When we think about our skin, the idea of having forever young and healthy skin crosses our minds. We all would love to have the perfect appearance, especially on our faces. This is not normally the case, due to defects and sometimes due to factors, we can’t control. Ageing is one of these factors, bringing in wrinkles, frown lines and tons of other imperfections. The good news, however, is that at Avané clinic, we offer you a chance to regain a seemingly perfect facial skin appearance. We do this through non-surgical facelifts, at affordable and friendly costs.
What is a non-surgical facelift?
Non-surgical facelifts are a collection of medical and aesthetical procedures done to rejuvenate and refresh skin appearance. These methods are minimally invasive and do not involve surgical operations. Non-surgical facelifts are done to reverse the effects of ageing on our skins. They are used to redeem skin that has been affected by frowns, wrinkles, loss of skin volume and sagginess. Non-surgical facelifts are easily done at our clinic, at cheap and affordable prices. In addition to this, our clients are assured of quality service, best treatment and effective remedies to their skin problems.
What is the difference between surgical and non-surgical facelifts?
A surgical facelift is also called a rhytidectomy. This involves the use of incisions and cuts on the face to tighten the skin. It may also involve the transfer of fats to the face from other body parts, to adjust facial muscles and regain fullness. Surgical facelifts are done using general anaesthesia and require hospitalization. They are also permanent and offer more drastic effects. On the other hand, non-surgical facelifts do not involve incisions on the skin. They employ other methods for volume regain other than fat transfer. Moreover, one does not need hospitalization during non-surgical facelifts. They are less permanent but offer durable results.
How do I know I need a non-surgical facelift?
Non-surgical facelifts are ideal for anyone, who notices they have developed signs of early ageing. One may have wrinkles, frown lines, crowfoot lines and marionette lines. Marionette lines form at the corners of the mouth due to facial activity such as laughing and smiling. If you have saggy or loose skin, especially on the face, it is wise you consult our specialists for remedies. Sunken cheeks, thin lips and shadows around the eyes are also viable motivations to seek our non-surgical facelift treatment.
I’m I a good candidate for a non-surgical facelift?
Non-surgical facelifts can be performed on anyone irrespective of their skin colour, skin tone or age. One however has to consult with our dermatologists who will determine if they are suitable candidates for the treatment. Nonsurgical facelifts are not performed on patients with active acne, eczema, psoriasis or cold sores outbreak. It is also not done on individuals with moles, freckles, skin growths or skin rashes. We also don’t recommend these treatments on patients with skin burns, such as burns sustained during radiation therapy.
What are the types of non-surgical facelifts?
Botox – This is a medical drug obtained from Botulinum toxin, which is produced by a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. Botox is a toxin but with the right use, it can be used to treat wrinkled skin and other facial defects. The drug is a neurotoxin that targets the neural system and attacks the nervous system. It obstructs the normal neural signals responsible for the stimulation of muscle contractions. This causes paralysis of the muscles, albeit temporarily. It is administered by use of a small injection on the area under treatment. It is not only used to eradicate wrinkles but also deals with neck spasms (cervical dystonia). Furthermore, it treats excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), overactive bladder and lazy eye. Botox injections may also help prevent chronic migraines.
Juvéderm– Juvéderm is a type of hyaluronic acid-based filler, used to restore facial contours and revert signs of ageing. It focuses on the face, especially on the lips, cheeks and around the mouth. Juvéderm works by stimulating the production of more collagen, with the help of hyaluronic acid. Collagen is the connective tissue that aids in plumping the skin. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body, but as one ages, the levels decrease, causing low production of collagen which results in more elasticity on the skin.
There are four types of Juvéderm treatments, depending on the area of concern. Juvéderm XC is most effective on nasolabial folds (laugh lines). These lines develop due to excessive laughter and smiling. It adds volume to the lines, thus eradicating them. On the other hand, Juvéderm Ultra XC is best used to fill lips, creating a fuller, plumper lip appearance. Juvéderm Volvelle XC is used for lip augmentation and erasing of crease lines around the lips. Moreover, Juvéderm Volume XC is used to create a fuller face by adding more volume, especially on the cheeks.
Chemical peels- Chemical peels involve the use of chemical solutions to extract old skin and allow the appearance of a new one. Chemical peels use different solutions, carefully prepared by an experienced doctor at the clinic, These chemicals extract the old, damaged skin cells by peeling them off and allowing the growth of newer skin. In addition to this, chemical peels help to shrink large pores and improve overall skin quality. For total skin rejuvenation, most people require multiple chemical peels
Micro-needling- This procedure involves the use of tiny needles to make small holes in the skin. This is the most common treatment in the world. Micro-needling stimulates the growth of collagen and elastin in the skin. This helps improve the look of loose skin, wrinkles, and sun damage. In addition to this, it helps refine large pores and redefines skin texture. Micro-needling has no downtime and involves the least complications or risk of side effects. It is however not a one-time treatment, as it will require multiple treatments for full effectiveness. Our doctors will examine the progress of your skin’s healing and will advise you on the post-treatment schedules. You will need about four sessions, each two to four months apart. To increase effectiveness, our doctors might supplement the treatment with vitamins and antioxidants.
Laser skin resurfacing- This is the use of laser beams to redefine facial skin non-surgically. It involves beams of controlled light, at a particular wavelength being focused on particular facial areas. Laser treatment helps to remove older, outer layers of skin that have defects. This allows the regeneration of new, healthier and fully skin. Moreover, the heat from the laser beams stimulates collagen regeneration. Laser treatments take short periods to perform. Based on the type of problem you have; the doctor will examine and conduct all necessary tests. He will also recommend the best form of laser treatment to use. At Avané clinic, we have PIQo4 laser and CO2 laser among other laser treatment machines. These are cutting-edge laser technologies, highly effective and safe for use.
